Mass Shootings, Moscow Mitch, and Republicans
The mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton were tragic and were not something that should ever happen in the U.S. It’s time we all banded together to at the very least try to something to reduce this problem. I don’t think many people would disagree with that statement. But it’s unlikely our Congress will actually pass a bill that would make an attempt at it.
Why not? The Majority Leader of the Senate, who sets the agenda for everything that comes to the floor won’t allow it. We all know who he is. He
is Senator Mitch McConnell, Moscow Mitch, the Kentucky Kalashnikov. He won’t do it because he’s so far up the Republican President’s butt he can smell hairspray, or whatever the Republican President uses to keep his hair on his head.
Every time we go through a mass shooting like this, and it has been over 250 times this year, and we have nearly 4 and a half months to go, we get all of the Republican’s “thoughts and prayers.” They haven’t worked yet. In fact, every where the Republican President goes to hold a rally, hate crimes go up on average 226%. But it’s not his fault or his party. It’s mental illness. Maybe the Republicans are making people mentally ill. Maybe it’s just plain ill. I’m not sure which.
Right now there are about 200 Bills that the House of Representatives have sent over to the Senate. They are sitting on the desk of #Moscow Mitch. They might be good, they might be bad. We don’t know. #Moscow Mitch won’t let anyone see them. He likely hasn’t read them either
Remember, he’s the dude who wouldn’t let President Obama warn everyone about Russian meddling in the 2016 election because it might look political. And he would NEVER do anything political.
His President is worse. He incites violence by saying he would pay legal fees for someone who punched out a protester. He called all Mexicans rapists and killers. He called people from countries with primarily brown skinned people, shithole countries. He said it was all right to sexually assault women, after all he had done it many times. He tried to ban people from the US because of their religion. All of the Republicans elected to any office, anywhere support those things. At least they will never say anything against them.
In other words they tacitly support gratuitous violence against people who disagree with them, racial/ethnic discrimination, religious discrimination, sexism. I pretty sure that the Constitution doesn’t think that’s OK. They swore an oath on the Bible that they would uphold the Constitution. They’re oath breakers, too.
But it is not just the Republicans in Washington. We can look closer to
home. Patrick McHenry, representing the 10th Congressional District never says anything critical against his President and would never vote against anything the President wanted.
Neither would Jason Saine the NC House representative
from Lincoln County. That is, unless his Charter School and ALEC Overlords told him to.
Speaking of Lincoln County, each year they hold their Annual Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner. It usually features a prominent regional or national Republican celebrity. They also raise money at the dinner for their candidates.
As you all know President Abraham Lincoln was killed by an assassin’s bullet. President Ronald Reagan was shot in an attempted assassination and almost died.
Guess what they do to raise money for the local party and the candidates. They raffle off a bunch of guns. But, that not the only time they make love to their guns. See the link below:
It seems to me that since their most beloved leaders Reagan and Lincoln were targets of assassins, they wouldn’t use guns to raise money. Do they not understand irony, or are they just tone deaf?
